The Ride is a spiritual journey for the restoration of spiritual health — or more accurately, the healing of the mind-spirit connection.
Inspired by sources in spirituality, psychology, humanities and holistic medicine, the Ride is designed to connect dots across these.
The Riddle
Misery
It doesn’t take being a loser, an addict or oppressed to be miserable. It just takes being human and somewhat love-deprived.
At the root of misery is a sense of inadequacy, that we are not the right kind, not at the right place nor the right time, too much or not enough, too good or too broken. We shouldn’t be here or we shouldn’t be us. Somewhere deep down, we believe we can’t survive out there just being us, because the world is hostile.
Whether we believe we have to protect ourselves, beat the system, wiggle our way through, outsmart everyone, get on others’ right side, push through, stay under the radar, have our shit together, stand up for our cause, catch the limelight, or get the fuck out of here, we are willing to give up a piece of our soul for survival.
And that... IS misery.
Spirit
Our soul is a sample of the divine, the spirit that animates us, that gives us life. Our spirit is expansive, intuitive, joyous, giving, creative, curious, full of awe.
It is also one of a kind. A kind that includes all that lives. It is whole, and a part, connected to everything, and self-aware.
It cannot be harmed by others or by any given experience we face, only by our own renunciation or rejection.
When we CHOOSE anything other than love, truth and service, we deny our souls, we hurt ourselves.
Freewill
We have a choice because we have Freewill. We “just” need to learn how to choose right.
It asks of us to see love from fear, the truth from illusion, connection from separation. It’s hard.
Also, Freewill is simple.
It means for us to open our eyes and our hearts, to care, to practice and grow in truth, love and helpfulness. There is no standard to match, we can’t lose if we just show up.
Joy
Joy is readiness and availability for life.
It is the ability to take it in and not freak out. It. It is being present to our feelings, sensations and circumstances. It is embracing the experience we’re having as the reason we are here. It is experiencing ourselves as a part of the creation, as both being created and expanding the creation. It is finding the goodness in all things.
It is the willingness to be content and happy, to show up, to connect, to try, to love.
