Across circumstances and challenges, we can get tempted to fight or surrender, loose sight of the big picture in the name of a seemingly more authentic short term.
Being loyal to our goals and values involves discernment about what is worthwhile in the grand scheme of things, choosing to wait, to be silent, to sacrifice, to comply, to play the part until a better option becomes available.
Stealth is about inner resolve, exerted with discretion. We are entitled to privacy. Our views and agendas are personal, and a quest we may not have figured out yet. Sharing these out of place can only impose on others unnecessarily, attract unwanted attention, turn us into wishful thinkers.
In stealth, we treat our inner world as precious, fragile. We find refuge in it, it is our safe place. Whether this inner world holds threatened loyalties, dreams of conquest, fresh inspirations, or aims of becoming, we guard it against interference, as a lifeline.
With an honest assessment of where we are, we may recognise nothing is quite in our power right now.
The intuition to choose life and the long-term may feel like a betrayal of our support, our traditions, our identity. But as we remember all things pass, and life is abundant, we keep sure there will be a better time, a better set of circumstances to claim these loyalties and step into our power.
Then the light we have dimmed to survive can finally shine bright.
When all hell breaks loose, rules apply we can’t play by, our place in the world is threatened and what we hold true is negated, standing up for our truth is a suicide mission.
With no voice, no authority to act, no resources, but our dignity and sanity still to lose, the better option is preservation.
Whether it means escape, resignation, compliance or disengagement, the time is not for assertiveness but for patience, to await a verdict, a game plan, an appraisal of the situation.
Coded in our DNA are scores of strategies to survive; impulses that take control over our mind when all goes wrong, unexpected resilience, ability to pause and reconsider...
Intuition is a gift, the holder of a broader truth, that we find deep down and all around, but stubbornly escapes us when we want to take a good look. Clarity is at best fleeting, a spark.
The best we can do is trust that we'll get through those dark times yet again, feeling stronger and more sensible for it, just by sticking to life.
Stealth implies blindness over the game plan, isolation from our partisans, lack of validation, rewards or encouragement. It is an act of faith, a desperate hanging on to values we hold as our lifeline.
When our discrete ways land us an asset, new information, something to leverage, coming out of the dark will forfeit our win.
We are still alone in celebration, and through reckoning how this minute power can be used to progress our cause.
If we are going to sacrifice it all, it will be to save our heart, our soul. So will everybody else.
In anyone’s evil is their own righteousness, the recipe to what their survival or comfort requires. They may have life wrong entirely, make terrible choices whether spiritually, materially or otherwise, they still believe they ought to, out of self-respect, some code they abide to.
With that understanding, we are free to protect our own heart, keep ourselves dignified through others misguided choices, and get the hell out.
Discretion offers power of a very different quality to the bold display of strength.
The knitting of invisible network through private conversation, access to confidential information, ability to act without exposure, provide for unique influence over matters.
The discipline involved is lonely and questionable, seemingly unrewarding, but the power of a grey eminence is real, it gets things done.
Truth doesn’t need approval, acclaim or exposure to be true. Our personal truth certainly needs to be known to us in spite of what the world has to say.
Whether it is under attack or we’re in need of reconnection, exposure may be the last thing we need.
Grounded in action and discretion, our truth takes on a different meaning, one of commitment and faith. Then our gift is more a seed we plant than a loud and bright message. Patience is the price to pay for our truth to flourish.
