Our mettle only really shows when things are hard.
Adventure and innovation are exciting and enviable, but the stories down-play the doubt (or do we oversee it?). Committing to our path requires bold action, standing firm and continuing to tread in rough going, in the face of opposition, when the stars are not yet aligned.
Boldness means being assertive, living in faith, trying the promising but riskier option, changing what doesn't work, letting go of the familiar in favour of a more inspired action, forgiving and giving others a chance, choosing happiness.
Boldness is defiant, not contrary or stubborn, but a refusal to settle, and a trust we can do more or better.
When we finally reveal our purpose to the world, we commit ourselves for the rest of times.
The journey will surprise us, change our idea of what it is we are meant to do and be, and the more we let go of our initial vision in favour of its realisation, the less we need to fight.
Advancing through 'what is' means we don’t make others changing a condition to our own action... which gives us free rein to act.
Enterprise involves new ways to think and do, and those types don’t fit the boxes.
Rules and habits are for the 'as usual'. Bold action takes some convincing, insistence, negotiation.
Yes, it may seem like nothing will budge, but believing this tale makes now the end of the road.
Street smarts, a keen eye, friendly patience and utter trust that our wish is meant to be granted can take us far, much farther than we imagine.
Once we’ve embarked, there is no merit in questioning the destination. What is done can’t be undone without tremendous cost to our sanity and our fellow travellers.
The pain of deciding can be limited to before the decision is actioned. Afterwards, we can just go with it and be free of the concern, bask in the comfort of the direction being our chosen one.
Of course if we hit a wall we can reconsider, but not until then. Until then, we keep walking, running, flying.
Boldness means claiming the freedom to act, presuming the validity of our quest, trusting that the support we need will be there.
It is not oblivious or destructive, rather it says that no one knows better, there is no plan, and we choose to explore of options, mostly by means of conquest.
We take the lead and state our case, put our plan on the table as the plan, and see what comes next.
Progressing requires us to use our fuel, invest our resources, spend our energy. We use the materials to build a house, and that means watching our stockpile of materials go down.
This comes with a sense of depletion, but focusing on the prudent reserves really is a failure to get started, or at best a hindrance to progress.
Keeping what we have for a rainy day or a starling occasion cultivates deprivation and not abundance. Enjoying life also includes making use of what we have.
Our contribution to the world is not a correction of others’ misgivings, misdeeds, lacks and misfortune, neither is it a straight chain of causes and consequences that rip the rewards of our good work.
We are not the holder of a superior truth, mandated to right the wrongs of the world from that hilltop we may like to stand on.
Our focus in advancing our purpose is not righteous, it is to do our part the best we can, and count on the many forces that play to shape reality to do the rest.
When something needs to change, and we don't know what to do, any action is better than no action.
There aren't real mistakes in life, other than maybe succumbing to the paralysis of fear. Action will reveal the unseen truth, the mysterious next step, open doors, dig up opportunities.
It maybe clumsy, untimely, misguided, misdirected, risky... It is still tremendously more useful to do anything at all than just wait for something to happen. Then we can navigate reactions, learn and course-correct.
