What we do in the world mostly happens outside of our control, through momentum, the action of others, the wonders of the universe we live in. We are engaged in a mysterious unfolding, wildly larger than we can comprehend, and we do not dictate where we are going, how or why.
At best, we navigate the situation like we'd let the current carry us down a river: Our choices only have to do with our level of comfort in the flow. Whichever way we look at it, the way is downstream - unless we resign and step out to the river banks, and watch our life go by.
Awe implies fascination & wonder, as much as a sense of overwhelm in the face of what is so evidently larger than us. In embracing Awe, aka in surrender, lies great power: Power to go much further, much faster, and in company.
The pain or confusion is a right of passage, into a dimension of belonging, and towards deeper trust in comprehensive intelligence.
Faced with the abundance of all that is appealing, we make choices, seek what suits us the best.
If we resist limiting ourselves, aka embracing an idea of our boundaries - eventually, we find that the connection to our source makes us boundless, we can expand endlessly from there.
Then it is about commitment to our purpose, not falling into the trap of endless consideration.
When it’s obvious we’re not in control, our part is to choose to trust.
Whether it’s a shock we need to absorb, a place we need to rest, some protective measure to face what is coming, our better option is to be ready, for what, we don’t know.
The Universe is not after us, being creative about ways to make us miserable. It offers solutions, ideas, guidance and randomness to stir us somewhere, it is on us to embrace it.
Hope lost is hard to reconvene.
Our truth, our crew, our soul mates, our true calling may have escaped us for too long for us to keep trying, or maybe when they come we no longer feel worthy or up for it, as our soul had the same expiration date as our body.
But even one minute of authentic and deep communion to something bigger than us is worth everything. Time does not matter in matters of the soul, it is never too late to become who we are and enjoy a new spring.
The comfort zone eventually ceases to be comfortable. The old ways are no longer relevant, and holding on to them can only increase stress, disharmony and disconnect with the world.
We may nostalgically, or for lack of imagination of another way, continue to try to take on more pressure, frustration, evidence to the ineffectiveness of our choices, but we do have a choice; one of opening ourselves up to what else is there.
Working at full capacity is exhilarating; the sense of power and actualisation, of being carried and held, of honouring our gifts is a blessing and straight in the middle of what it means to live a full life. But from here, energy drains, wheels keep turning faster and resources deplete. Soon, the ask is too much, the pace cannot be sustained. Knowing when more it too much is a great gift - one that keeps us connected to our source, reminds us to refuel and keep health for the long run.
In an abundant universe, a hungry soul remains unfulfilled until it digs deep into something substantial.
Reaching the depth means committing, sticking to a purpose, a value, an identity, something that we can be deeply acquainted with, carry and follow, expand and sustain.
Commitment is our bearing, how we know, how we steer, what allows time to work its magic and the story to end well.
Clarity is a precious gift, one that is rarely afforded us. Life involves a lot of wading in the dark, at the mercy of uncontrollable elements, not knowing what we’re in for, what the right thing is to do, when the next tide will hit.
In those moments, expecting ourselves to know is vane, unhelpful, guilting. We cannot know, we are not in charge, nor are our actions the great deciders.
In letting go of that expectation we should know better, we surrender to the current and can finally float.
